DIY Ugly Christmas Sweater: Present Style

It's that time of year again and Sebastian's Ugly Christmas Sweater collection is starting to pile up higher than he'd like to admit.  This year, we chose to do a simple look that's possibly more cute than ugly.  What do you think?

Get This Look:
-2 yards ribbon (we used 2" width)
-Plain dog sweater (we made our own, but you can buy a pre-made one like this one here)
-Sewing machine or fabric glue (depending on your level of experience and patience)
-One button for center of bow
-Hand sewing needle and thread
-Present tag and sharpie

Since we made the tee from scratch, I was able to customize it even more with this fuzzy green stretch material creating long sleeves and a turtleneck. Yowza!

This project is super easy and quick.  I made it in about an hour total (including sewing the tee together).

As always, Sebastian was eager to hit the streets in his new look!

Sebastian can't help but notice how much more attention he gets when he's dressed to impress.

Sebastian's style advice: Wear a color that pops with the color of your fur.

We stopped by our local coffee shop - Queen Bee Cafe -  not just to show off, but because the coffee is really good...Oh and because they allow (well-behaved) dogs!

Oh, the joys of being so cute.

We wanna know - Whats your fashion game plan this holiday season?  Send us pics to share on our Facebook page!

DIY Treat Jar from a Coffee Tin

Super easy and affordable treat jar from a recycled coffee tin!

What you'll need:

We found this cool paw print paper at Dollar Tree as gift wrap.  Get yourself a whole roll and make treat jars for your friends!

What do you guys think?!

DIY Mini Denim Heart Toy

We used an old pair of jeans and a small squeaker
(you can buy replacement squeakers at most pet stores).

INSTRUCTIONS:  Cut out a heart shape at least double the size of your squeaker.  Then match the two heart pieces, wrong sides together, and stitch one side using a 3/8" seam.  Insert the squeaker and then finish stitching the other side of the heart. (See pictures below)

And that's it!  I stitched around the heart twice, but one row of stitches will do.
Let the edges fray naturally over time for a cute shabby look.

So easy you'll probably want to make more.

Friday Finds: DIY Bunny Ears

Yay, it's time to get our bunny ears out!  Sebastian and I have made a few over the years and these baby blue polka dot bunny ears are still our favorite.  Find your favorite below and click on the links to find the instructions.

DIY No Sew Dog Cape

You wont believe your eyes when you see how easy this cape is.  If you know how to cut and glue, you can make it!

INSTRUCTIONS:
This is basically a spin-off of one of our most popular tutorials: the Upcycled Dog Shirt Collar.

All you need:
- One human button-up shirt collar (same neck size as your dog's)
- One piece of felt or fleece (an 8.5"X11" piece will work for small dogs, or you can buy it by-the-yard at places like Joann's for bigger dogs)
- No Sew Fabric Glue (we used Aleene's and it works great!)
- Scissors
- Ruler

And that's it!

NOTE:  If you've ever made a cape for a dog before, you know how important a hole for the leash/harness is.  The cape will just fall to the side if you don't do this step.

DIY Upcycled Dog Cape

Instructions:
You will need TWO shirt collars.  That's right!  One for the Outside and one for the lining.  If cape is left blank (with no lightning), it could be reversible!!!  Also, I found the bigger the shirt was (as in, adult size shirts, not kids), the better the cape looked.  You get the pleating and also a bigger collar with the adult-sized shirt collars.

But Sebastian wanted a tie.  You know, like real superhero capes have.  Just make sure to remove the buttons if you decide to go with the tie.

Did I mention we made this cape in black too?  We rounded the corners on this one.

And we used a striped black and purple collar shirt we found at the thrift store (Which you can kind of see in this last photo) as the interior.

The only thing missing from this cape is an attachment to a harness or something.  It wants to fall to the side when Sebastian flies through the air (#dogproblems).  You could easily add a buttonhole on top through both layers for leash access to the harness too.  I would imagine the cape would stay on better with that method too.

DIY Candy Crush Color Bomb Squeak Toy

Yeah, we're addicted too.

We can't help but notice the Candy Crush craze.  It's everywhere.  Everyone is doing it.  And In April, Buzzfeed reported Candy Crush as the highest grossing app in the app store and the biggest app on facebook.  Scary!

While we were waiting for more lives on Candy Crush to accumulate, I decided to make Sebastian his own Color Bomb Squeak Toy.

As always, here's a tutorial:

Colorbomb to the rescue!
