Project Runway: All Stars - Finale Reflection

Reflecting back on the last few months, Sebastian and I realize taking on the Project Runway challenges has really developed his wardrobe.

You know your dog has too many clothes when it takes you 20 minutes to decide what he's going to wear to Starbucks.

Well, the challenges were fun and seemed to get harder as the show went on.  We definitely have a favorite: the outfit from the "Clothes Off Your Back" challenge.  I just love the bright colors on Sebastian's white fur and the hand cuff accessory is to die for!

We also really liked the pineapple-inspired outfit, even though it's not as "wearable" as our favorite outfit due to the crazy leaf hat.  This one was definitely the most entertaining outfit to photograph as I could not stop laughing (after all...aren't those the best pet outfits...the ones that make you laugh?)

The Finale (Part 2...should have known they were going to stretch it out as long as possible!) airs tonight.  We can hardly wait.

What is your favorite outfit?  We want to know!

Project Runway: All Stars - Part 10

Challenge: ???

Well for those of you who watch the show, the challenge was to "talk business" by creating a look within a certain budget based on the retail price the item could be sold for.  And blah blah blah.  With that being said, Sebastian and I were clueless on what direction to take.

So....  We decided to create a look inspired by Mondo's dress, which won the challenge.

He took strips of totally different fabrics and made stripes with them.  I actually like this dress and Mondo happens to be who I hope wins the finale.

I went through my closet of fabrics (literally) and collected a combination of prints.

Since Sebastian IS a boy (lets not forget!  ha), I went with a nautical theme.  I sewed the strips together and then cut out Sebastian's tank pattern.  Pretty easy.

We are ready to sail our way to the Project Runway finale (which airs tomorrow night)!!!

Project Runway: All Stars - Part 9

Challenge: Create a look using light

Designers could use neon lighting, fairy lights, glow in the dark fabrics....pretty much anything that lit up at night was a go.

Here are the top 3 looks from the Runway:

Sebastian and I chose neon yellow thread and fabric because neon colors (especially yellow) show up well under a black light.

I used a 3-thread overlock stitch to create the lines on the shirt (did this on solid black fabric before cutting out the pattern).

He looks like a futuristic bug in the daylight.

I am so glad I incorporated the solid neon yellow fabric on the tummy portion.  It looks like his insides are glowing.  So cool .

I think it's time to throw a black light party.
