The Beginning of Sew DoggyStyle (and a little about me)

Wow, my first blog ever.  I'm not sure where I'm going with this yet, but here's a start!

My name is Erika and I'm creative, random, brave, loud, quiet, shy, reserved, inappropriate, self-entertained, focused, blonde, red, weird, devoted, loyal, on time, frugal (but not always), hungry (always), demanding, outgoing, sarcastic, highly caffeinated, colorful, and some other stuff.

   Me With Jason

So how did Sew DoggyStyle get started?  It was a cold, but sunny afternoon on December 24th, 2009.  I had the urge to head to the SPCA (this happens a lot).  Since it was the day before Christmas, Jason agreed to let me adopt a 9.6 lb beautiful baby boy telling me the dog would be my present (since he clearly hadn't done his shopping yet).

The Pound Puppy

I named him Sebastian after the lobster on The Little Mermaid.  He is often mistaken for a hairy chihuahua or a groomed Pomeranian, but it's much more complicated than that.  He is a pure white Mini American Eskimo Finnish Spitz mix.

From Pound Cage to Royalty

Sebastian is my very first TINY dog I've ever had.  Chanel, my 8-year-old Shepherd Husky Lab Chow mix baby, is a big dog with a lot of fluff.  I always thought she was pretty fashionable, but I've realized small dogs know how to rock it out 10 times better.

Chanel

I bought Sebastian any and everything I thought was cute.  He was rockin' it everywhere he went, but he still felt so limited.  I decided to take the situation into my own hands at the sewing machine.  The result was Sew DoggyStyle, which became my little business in June 2010.  I am excited to see where this journey takes me.

And that's all for now!

I've been to your blog so many times now. Been trying to get to know Sebastian better, coz I thought he kinda looks like my Marvin, but Marvin is a Papillon Corgi mix. I couldn't find this post until today. So glad I get to read your story. I love your tutorials. Great instructions and great inspiration. Thank you!
