DIY Upcycled Dog Cape

Instructions:
You will need TWO shirt collars.  That's right!  One for the Outside and one for the lining.  If cape is left blank (with no lightning), it could be reversible!!!  Also, I found the bigger the shirt was (as in, adult size shirts, not kids), the better the cape looked.  You get the pleating and also a bigger collar with the adult-sized shirt collars.

But Sebastian wanted a tie.  You know, like real superhero capes have.  Just make sure to remove the buttons if you decide to go with the tie.

Did I mention we made this cape in black too?  We rounded the corners on this one.

And we used a striped black and purple collar shirt we found at the thrift store (Which you can kind of see in this last photo) as the interior.

The only thing missing from this cape is an attachment to a harness or something.  It wants to fall to the side when Sebastian flies through the air (#dogproblems).  You could easily add a buttonhole on top through both layers for leash access to the harness too.  I would imagine the cape would stay on better with that method too.

DIY Dog Silhouette Leash Rack

We love the way this cute little leash rack turned out.  Make your own of your own pooch or cat by following our instructions below!  I just free-handed the shape of Sebastian's silhouette, but I imagine you can just cut out a photo of your dog's back and trace that shape onto a 5"X7" wooden plaque too.

I was pretty worried about my drawing skills because Sebastian started off looking like a cat!!!  But luckily I was able to make it look more like him once I painted on the "fur."

Hang your adorable leash rack up somewhere it will be seen!  This plaque didn't have anything on the back so we attached a small picture hanger.  Leashes are not that heavy so a picture hanger should do the trick!

DIY Painted Dog Collar

New puppy means new dog accessories!  I am loving this transformation from a boring black nylon collar to a vibrant and trendy one - so colorful and so easy!

INSTRUCTIONS:

And well, that's it!  Think of all the possibilities - polka dots, stars, paw prints, bones, hearts, etc.

Here's some personalized ones I did for Sebastian with Tuilp 3D paints over at www.ilovetocreate.com:

The Chosen Name: Winston!

The people have spoken!  The results are in!  The name Winston won, with Finn following closely behind.

So I realized it took me a few weeks to write about the results.  (Oops!)  And it's been a long few weeks for Winston.  He's fine though - just recovering from being neutered.

Thank you to everyone who voted for his new name, which we love!!!

DIY Cloud Bed Tutorial

We had so much fun making this cloud bed and it's super easy!  Sebastian loves it.  If you've ever made a pillow or a dog bed, then you will definitely be able to make this.

Instructions
We recommend using some soft blue faux fur fabric for extra fluff and nicer looking curves (it'll hide any imperfections).  Don't use fabric that stretches too much - the less stretch it has, the more it will keep the smooth curved shape you've cut out.

And voila!

Cloud 9 refers to being in a state of bliss, which Sebastian definitely associates with sleep.  Though we still don't understand the number "9."  Do you?

What do you think of our new cloud bed?

Erika and Sebastian
